Acadia’s Technology Services:

Configuring & Managing a University IT Environment

Gary Doucette

Executive Director of Technology Services

Acadia University

Abstract

Universities have long been places where boundaries are pushed and innovations are born. Acadia University has built a significant and complex technology infrastructure to support learning, research, student lifestyles and administration. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors bring a wide spectrum of devices to campus and expect to fit them seamlessly into the fabric of libraries, classrooms, offices, casual spaces and living spaces. This presentation will outline the IT infrastructure that Acadia University has deployed for that purpose and provide insight into what the future might bring.

About the Presenter

Gary Doucette is the Executive Director of Technology Services for Acadia University. He arrived at Acadia in the summer of 2013 after spending several years in a senior IT role at another university. He has experience as a Windows, UNIX, and VMS system administrator; also as a Network administrator, a programmer, and as a part-time faculty member.
