Acadia ALERT - Campus Closed (Weather)

Today, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Acadia University will remain closed, with the exception of residences and Wheelock Dining Hall, due to the current campus and travel conditions. Wheelock Dining Hall may adjust their hours and any change in hours will be communicated through Residence Life.

Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Any events scheduled for today will be postponed or cancelled.

Updates will be posted on www.acadiau.ca and pre-recorded on Acadia’s Information Line: 902-585-4636 (585-INFO) and on 585 phone system voicemail. Friday Seminar: Challenges in Data Analytics Implementations

Title: Challenges in Data Analytics Implementations

 

Abstract:

“Analytics” is a must have capability in the new data driven world and the key decision makers in a large enterprise depend on Business intelligence/ Analytics from Data to run their Businesses. While in theory , Analytics should ideally be real time and provide leading indicators of Business performance, in reality most organizations are still dealing with Data issues that prevent them from harnessing the full power of Analytics. The talk is focused on some of the practical challenges that most organizations deal with when they want to implement “Analytics”. Also there are some ideas discussed on what can be a way forward.

Bio:

The speaker has more than 20 years of experience in the Industry working with Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Analysis projects across multiple geographies. He has a Masters degree in Industrial Management from IIT Madras. He has worked in large firms like General Electric, Cap Gemini, Tata Consultancy. He is currently busy with a Machine Learning start up in Nova Scotia, Canada and is working out of AIDA space in Acadia University.
